The history of the log home
Handcrafted log homes have been built for centuries in Scandinavia, Russia and Eastern Europe and even across America they used logs not only to build houses, but also commercial structures, schools, churches, barns and a variety of outbuildings.
Traditionally the logs would be hand carved using an axe and constructed using pieces of timber to join the logs together. No nails were used during the log cabin build. Log houses dominated the building tradition in Norway up to the end of the 19th century.
New and old building traditions exist side by side and we strive to maintain the art of log cabin building that has been part of our history for generations whilst utilising the latest technology our fully equipped sawmill can offer.
